Tuesday Afternoon Mixed Doubles League
Welcome to Tuesday Afternoon Mixed Doubles.
Doubles curling is a twist on traditional curling with just two players per team instead of four. It can be any combination of women and men.
We anticipate starting our league Tuesday October 22th, 2024. Our games start at 1:00 pm.
The game consists of eight ends with each team delivering five rocks only. One curler must deliver the first and last rock of each end, the other team-mate will deliver the three other rocks. These positions will change each end. Sweeping is only permitted from the hog-line through to the target house. Please see the rules and ice rock placements attached.
We look forward to seeing you on the ice.

Rules:
1) A minimum of 6 ends must be played to determine the win. The team behind may concede the game after 6 ends, or continue with the 7th and 8th ends to play to determine winner (for 10 points). No points will be awarded for the 7th or 8th ends or rocks.
2) Since we have 2 draws and we need to clean the ice between draws, the clock timer will be used to help keep games within the 2-hour window. The timer will go off after 1 hr and 30 minutes of play. If the 1st rock of the 7th end has not been thrown and passed the delivery line, the 8th end will not be played.
3) If you cannot make your game, you are responsible for finding a spare. Spares must be a member of this club and can be found on our website at https://www.curlfenelon.ca/. Go to Member’s Home – League Information – Find a Spare. You should also leverage the 5th players on teams for spares (check the league team list. Spares cannot play at a higher position than the missing team member.
- that is, a spare for a lead can play as lead only
- that is, a spare for a second can play as second or lead
- that is, a spare for a missing vice can play as vice or lower
- however, a spare for a missing skip, can only play as vice or lower
4) The opposing team must call out any violation of the spare rules before the start of the 2nd end.
5) Each team must have a minimum of two regular team members and two spares maximum, or forfeit the game.
6) Teams must have three curlers present, or forfeit the game. If a team should need to forfeit their game, the other team would receive 15 points.
7) Teams must have three curlers present to start within 5 minutes of the scheduled start time, or forfeit an end and rock (1.25 points). If still short after 20 minutes of the start, forfeit the game (15 points for the forfeit).
